Welcome back, Booners! GOTW stands for Gamer of the Week, which rewards the top events players of the past seven days. For every hotel alerted event that you win, you will be awarded 1 GOTW point and 1 diamond! You can keep track of the number of GOTW points you have accumulated per week by looking at the top right hand corner of your screen. At the end of the week, these points are added up and the top three win a groovy badge! We hope you are all excited and ready, and may the best Booners win!

The upcoming week will most likely be the final week of the standard Gamer of the Week format that has been used for the past few years now. Over the last few years, we've seen Gamer of the Week manage to generate a lot of activity for the hotel and always give something for users to strive towards to achieving, however, we've come to the conclusion that it's time for heavy renovations (not light changes like usual) to adjust it to more modern standards and accomodating to the average events player, while also not forgetting about the more dedicated and 'skilled'.

There's quite a few additions and changes planned. But before we go ahead with them and finalize the changes, we will be hosting user discussions both on the hotel and on Discord to get the best user feedback regarding these changes while also explaining the justifications for these changes and additions to the article. One of our goals for 2022 with Habboon is to make it more community orientated than ever before, and this is one of the first steps in achieving that goal.

Removal of the Top 3 Placements: This isn't finalized, but we think it might be time to get rid of the Top 3 for the article. One of the justifications for this is that it handicaps a ton of users that are wanting to participate and earn from events outside of the small amount of diamonds, but they never can. Especially with the removal of mandatory prizes a few years ago now, and hosts no longer really providing their own prizes, we feel the top 3 might need to be sacrificed for the additions of other ways of rewarding participating users. However, this can always change.

GOTW Milestone Rewards: Rather than rewarding the Top 3 users, we can aim to rewarding users who achieve xx amount of points in the week. For example, there can be 3 tier of rewards that ALL users have a chance of winning. Figuring out the milestone requirements is still in discussion, if we go ahead with it, but would be something like (the following text is a TOTAL example, and not finalized/representative of this week's article): 

"This week's GOTW milestone rewards will be:
25 GOTW Points: Rubber Duck, Badge, 10 credits.
35 GOTW Points: Penguin Statue, Badge, 15 credits.
45 GOTW Points: New Wooden Crown, Badge, 20 credits."

GOTW Store: Suggested by users in the past, and staff, it might also be time to introduce the GOTW store! The GOTW store would allow users to spend their earned GOTW points for some exclusive prizes that will be rotated in an established timeframe (still discussing this), which allows for some exclusivity for events on the hotel and also a better sense of achievement / rewards worth showing off. However, there is something to take into consideration with this which is explained in the next point. The GOTW store could feature exclusive GOTW rares, returning rares, exclusive clothing only found in the GOTW store etc. or maybe even the NFT Crackable Boxes. It's all a working phase and something we're waiting to discuss with users.

Leaderboard Rework: One of the issues with the GOTW store is figuring out if you should have the leaderboard seperate from the store or not. Do users who spend their points also reflect that that on the leaderboard or do we hold the leaderboard as it's own thing and disregard the loss of points when spending them in the store etc. A talking point to be held in the user discussions that will take place sometime this week.

Point Distribution: Still something to properly discuss but we're also trying to rework the point distribution once again. With the entire "1-3 GOTW points" system, we feel that with a working store, it could be easily abused with rigging etc. that is out of our hands to properly moderate. Alongside this, we could see the return of old changes, such as the 'last to' methods etc.

There's other changes that we want to discuss too. None of this is finalized but it's only fair that we're fully transparent with upcoming changes so that users can also provide feedback and discuss it with us, rather than being caught off guard and having a distaste for changes for the sake of hating change. Any discussions being hosted will be posted in the Discord, so make sure to join over at discord.gg/habboon and keep an eye out for any hotel alerts / discord alerts.
